TOUCH FOOTY WORLD CUP

The first Harmony Cup was held in 2004. It remains a very successful annual event and is played under the traditional format of Australian Rules Football – 18-per-side and full-contact.

The large number of players required, plus the physical nature of the event, however precluded many communities in Melbourne from participating in the Harmony Cup.

As a result, in 2021 I created a new event, the Touch Footy World Cup, to allow those communities to take part by removing the barriers of participation.

It has proven to be a great success. Participating teams have included Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, El Salvador, Philippines, Nepal, China, Solomon Islands, Malawi, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Wales, Switzerland, Netherlands and the United Nations.
